My Metro Medallion quilt is finished!
I'm really happy with it and yes, I quilted the heck out of it!
This block has been one of our favorite designs and so when we made it a QAL, it was lots of fun to see the participation and the beautiful quilts that came from it!
The quilting process for this quilt sort of developed as I went along. I ended up doing a few different quilting designs in the blocks in hopes to give some different quilting ideas for the Medallions.
I've tried to take pictures of all the different Medallion blocks.
I hope I gave some good ideas!
The only consistent quilting I did was in the gray parts of the quilt.
I used a light gray thread for the gray areas, a cranberry color thread for the red blocks and an off white thread for the rest of the quilt.
I also tried out a batting I had never used before made by Pellon, in hopes to find the "perfect batting".
So here are my thoughts on it:
I had no problems what so ever with my quilting stitches. Good tension and no skipped stitches.
While I was quilting, I wished there was more of a loft, but after taking it off the machine, I couldn't tell the difference in appearance between this and my quilts with the double warm and white batting's.
It lay's nice and flat!
It has a good weight to it. Not to light and not to heavy and drapes really nice, even though I quilted the heck out of it. I think it will also have a nice lay to it for a wall hanging.
One big perk is it's a bleached batting, since so many of my quilts have white in it, this is really important to me. It's not a see through batting, so one layer worked great to make my white fabric in my quilt top really stand out as being truly white!
So with all that being said, I like it! I'm going to order myself a roll of it for sure!
We are going to do one last blog post on the Medallion QAL, showing all the Medallion quilt finishes, quilted or not. So be sure to share your quilt on the Flickr Group or email it to me at jennypedigo@comast.net.

Jenny, it is stunning!!
Just spectacular! This is a stunning quilt and the quilting patterns that you chose are perfect to highlight the great blocks and fabrics. Thanks for sharing this QAL!
Beautiful! I like your thoughts on batting. Most of my customers like Warm & Natural cotton or cotton/bamboo, which are both creamy in colour.
I loved the way you did the blocks different then read further to discover you were giving us ideas. It looks so unique with the all the different quilting you did. Great job!!!! as usual :-)
I really love the way you quilted this Jenny! The original medallions almost take a backseat to the white with the squares in them - oo-la-la!!! The different quilting designs really invites attention, looking deeper to see all the great designs :*)
Beautiful !!
Is that batting a poly batt ?....
My last 2 quilts I have used a white poly....softer to drape I think...and it will not shrink.
So curious to know if this is a cotton or poly batting you have found.
I just love looking at your quilts.
I think this is the most beautiful quilting job you have done on your quilts. I just love it.
Wow! I just love this--elegant, classy and beautiful!
So Gorgeous Jenny, I love it!!!
Wonderful wonderful!!
Beautiful job, Jenny! Love the binding you chose, too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the batting and your processes in this work of art! Congrats on the gorgeous finish.
Awesome Jenny -- I dream to be able to quilt like you do! Thanks for continuing to inspire and the Medallion is on my list (especially now that I have such awesome quilting ideas!)... hugs, Karen
The quilting on this is simply stunning. Thank you for supporting the "quilt the heck out of it" club!
(There's not really one but maybe I should start one, LOL!)

Einfach nur bezaubernd, diese Farben und dann noch die tollen Quiltausführungen. Super schön. Sabine
Superior quilting, Jenny!! Was is your intention to make the white medallions the strongest feature of the quilt?
Drop dead gorgeous!
Gorgeous
Wow! Your quilting goddess! The quilting is just amazing and outstanding! Love it! I really like that you gave us few options to work on.
You inspired me to start my Metro Medallion blocks.
Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful! What kind of thread do you use? What kind of longarm do you have? Does it have a stitch regulator? Love your work!
This quilt is absolutely beautiful!!!
This quilt is absolutely beautiful!!!
This is beyond believable! Delicious! Congratulations!
This is spectacular! All I can say is - when will the pattern be available?
Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville shared this on her Facebook page today (that's how I found it!) and I am just blown away! The quilting and the colors are just awe-inspiring! I'm beginning to be more drawn to gray as a new (to me) neutral.
This is simply gorgeous! Wonderful job!
Genius design - in the layout and in the quilting. How did you ever find so many great motif ideas?!? Really Super :)
Snap! That is one over-the-top fabulous quilt, both piecing and quilting! Just stunning!
I don't even know what to say about this quilt! I am completely overwhelmed by the beauty of it! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Wordless! In my opinion - it is one of your best! Thanks for thoughts about batting!
One word: Beautiful!!!!! The colours, the pattern and the quilting, it is all just beautiful!
This is so stunning, Jenny - from the design to the fabrics to the quilting. And YES lots of fabulous ideas!! :D Thank you so much for being so sharing with this.
Wow! This just turned out fabulous as always, Jenny!
Do you have a kit or something that I could buy from you? I want to make this exact quilt!! Love love love it!!! Or can you tell me the fabric line. And the grey that you used.
Complimenti !!!! perfetto, ottimo lavoro.Originale nei colori e nella quiltatura, ancora tanti complimenti.
Anita (anipatch.blogspot.it) ciao
Breathtakingly done!
Absolutely, beautiful quilting.
I love love love your overall design. I haven't gotten to quilting mine yet, and by no means will it be as extensive as yours as I can only do what fits on my regular Pfaff machine. Absolutely fantastic though.
I love the consistency on the grey that pulls in all the different blocks and how you did that.
Absolutely fantastic job. I love the consistency on the grey to pull in the different quilting on the white blocks.
My quilting will not be anywhere as near as detailed as I only can do what is within my normal sewing machine.
Great job.
Great job on the making of the quilt and the Quilting on it. Stunning! The gray really brings out the colours. So nice...
How do you do your 'fingers'? Do you stitch them like pebbles (all the way around and then over a bit to get to the next one) just elongated? If that makes any sense;)
It's awesome, and your quilting is amazing!!!!
You should enter this in the Professional Quilting category of Blogger's Quilt Festival - I'd vote for it :)
