Twirling Fans Quilt

My absolute favorite thing to do after I've finished up a quilt is to lay it out on the floor, adjust the blinds so the light shines on the quilt to cast shadows and then admire and take pics of the quilt.  Unfortunately my camera broke, so I'm using an i pod to take the pictures...anyway, here is Sharon's beautiful quilt!

As I mentioned before this is Sharon's design and it's called Twirling Fans.  You can find out more information about this pattern here.

I really enjoyed coming up with a secondary design on the background fabric.  I wasn't sure about the feathers but now I can see the whole quilt...I'm really happy I did them!

Normally I like to play it safe on customer quilts and wouldn't have done 12 different background fills but it seamed fitting for this quilt and I love it!

I tried some new quilting fillers.  The two above were new to me and ended up being my favorite.

...and some more

I kept the border quilting simple by doing some piano keys.  I tend to do piano keys a lot on borders with printed fabrics.  They always look great!

Only two more customer quilts left to do and they are both Urban Nine Patch quilts.  I'm really excited to start on them and to show progress on them!!

Ty cooperated today and took a long nap!  Good quilting day today!

Absolutely gorgeous. With that much open space to quilt, the quilting can make or break a quilt. You more than made this one. Not to take away from the beautiful pattern, but you really enhanced it beyond what I could have imagined when you posted the beginnings of it!

Love seeing the final quilt, beautiful! The feather motif works so well as a secondary design.

Love your little caterpillar looking filler. Not quite feathers, but straight. Very neat. Also love the fans that you echoed. They really pop!

Absolutely amazing. I know it is a fan quilt but the first thing that entered my mind was American Indians doing ceremonial dances. All the bright colors with paired with the black seemed to resemble head dress feathers. It is so beautiful. You have done a breathtaking job.
