Challenge Day 11

It's day 11 of my 31 Day Challenge.  The sun actually made an appearance this afternoon and the front yard was in major need of some grooming.  I'm happy to say I did get one of Karen's quilts done before I went out to groom and another after the groom.

I did a freehand swirl on this fun quilt and of course added the binding before taking it off the machine.

I also wanted to share some of my favorite quilting necessities!

I LOVE these little scissors, they are clipped on to my shirt all day long and I've even been know to where them into the grocery store....and of course a little music helps keep the quilting moving and grooving along.

I discovered these magnetic pre-wound (classic) bobbins by Fil-Tec a while ago and absolutely love them, almost as much as I love candy and that's why I put them in a candy dish!  I use the white on 90% of all the quilts I do up.  I do have a few other colors too.  But surprisingly the white blends in real nice on most backing fabric.

My machine doesn't do very well with a lot of threads, especially variegated, but it loves Superior's Sew Fine and so I love it!!  I also use this thread on 90% of all the quilts I do up.

...so these are just a few of my favorite quilting necessities!

Here is the 2nd quilt I loaded today and I did something fun in the pink borders and a small meander for the rest.

This makes 10 of 12, of Karen's quilt quilted up and 2 more to go, than the bindings.  I'm finally seeing an end to Karen's quilts, soon!

6 of 30 Finished

I find myself getting quite excited about this challenge. It's really inspiring to see how you come up with patterns for each quilt that are just right. I love the pattern on the pink borders!

But surely you have finished more than 6 of 30 quilts now?

You are doing great! Good work. I thought you were past 6, but I must be thinking of all those little ones you had to do which probably aren't in the count yet. :-)

Your quilting is beautiful. Another two is wonderful. And I know that I always feel better when I get a bit of gardening done too.

Two more beautiful quilts, beautifully quilted. I think you are doing pretty darned amazing on your challenge, and if you don't take a break from quilting now and then - getting outside is a great break - you will make yourself miserable. Now, if only I could talk myself into getting outside for some of that yard love myself...

The quilts are just lovely! Your quilting really does add such amazing and unique detail to each of the quilts. The candy dish is a great idea - I keep my spools in a mason jar :)

I love those magnetic core bobbins from Fil-Tec too! They work in my class 15 machines too, so someday I'm going to order a bunch!
