Friday Giveaway!!!

We hope you are enjoying making the Twisted Blossom blocks as much as we are!
Here is an update on Helen's blocks… She is using Anna Maria Horner's fabrics Folk Song.

Here is a pressing seam suggestion for managing the bulk from multiple layers.  Some seams are pressed open and some are pressed to the side.  You should do whatever makes you happy :-)
(I usually do a combination of both to manage the bulk.  Helen)

Now for the Giveaway!  Today we are giving away this awesome cutting/pressing mat which works great when taking a class and need your own cutting/pressing station but you don't have a lot of room.  And our Curve It Up pattern which has 12 traditional blocks which we added curves to or used the Quick Curve Ruler to create the curves in the traditional block.

Please one comment per person, and tell us about your favorite summer salad or side dish.  I need some fresh ideas for my summer menu!

~Enjoy~

I love to make my famous green salad. At least that's what everyone calls it. 1 can crushed pineapple, 2 cups of Mini Marshmallows, 1 box of pistachio instant pudding mix, Mix that all up and then add a tub of Cool Whip. Chill for at least 1/2 hour. This makes up in about 5 min. and everyone loves it.

My favorite summer salad is pasta salad. It's so simple, but the main ingredient must be FRESH tomatoes from the garden.
Cut up tomatoes and green peppers. One box of cooked pasta (your choice), fat free Italian dressing (most of the time I use half of a bottle), and Kraft Parmesan cheese. Put in a bowl with a tight fitting lid. Make and let sit in the fridge. Shake to re-distribute dressing before serving. YUM!

We make awesome big salads and add hard boiled egg and chicken (white meat bought bulk from Costco's rotisserie chickens) to make them a complete meal. Ours tonight had romaine, spinach, carrots, pea pods, cherry tomatoes, red pepper, onion, cucumber, diced apple plus the egg and chicken. I top mine with blue cheese, my hubby likes shredded cheddar. I love Newman's Own Raspberry Walnut vinaigrette dressing. At least half the veggies are grown in our own garden. Nothing beats a fully ripe cherry tomato picked fresh, especially the orange Sun Gold variety. We make it big enough that it lasts two days.

I enjoy a garden salad in summer and use a variety to present it, such as a wedge made into a BLT flavor version or grill peaches or plums for a little zing with a grilled chicken garden salad. Recently started using a blob of hummus and slicing coins of radish into a make shift rose as a small side dish. All easy and quick but healthy. Thanks for the wonderful and generous giveaway.

Thanks for the helpful hints for this block. I have a recipe called summer coleslaw. You use a bag of shredded cabbage, finely chopped green onion, sunflower seeds, slivered almonds, crumble noodles from 1 pkg of beef flavored raman. You then make a dressing for it using the beef flavoring. No mayo to spoil in the summer heat with this recipe.

I love to make a red potato salad, it's easy and delicious! 2 lb red potatoes, (cooked and cut in large chunks), 1/3 C roasted red peppers, 1 C ceasar salad dressing, 1/4 C grated parmesan, chopped flat leaf parsley. Mix and chill.

I always get rave reviews when I bring this to any party. I love it because you don't have to peel the potatoes and there's minimal chopping.

At my favorite salad you need: 0.5 kg of cooked fava beans, 3-, 4 boiled eggs, 2 large tomatoes, 2 large heaped tablespoons chopped dill, 2 large tablespoons of mayonnaise mixed with 2 tablespoons sour cream or yogurt - as you like, salt and pepper to taste. Broad beans with husks peel after cooking, eggs very finely chop, chop the tomatoes. Mix everything together with mayonnaise sauce and cream, dill and season to taste with salt and pepper. Delicious for supper!
Greetings from Poland :)

Great colors in these blocks - I love them! For a summer side dish or appetizer, I love making Caprese and it's so simple. Once all are assembled, drizzle with a reduction of balsamic vinegar. SO good!
