Urban ? Quilted!

I loaded one of my own quilts today!  It's one of the last few I have to quilt that will end my Urban Series.  I currently do not have a name for it.....but working on it.

My daughter and I did this up a while ago and I'm so glad it finally got quilted.

I'm not showing the whole quilt yet...but I did want to show the feathers!

This is the back and you can really see the feathers now.  I consider these feathers my fun-modern-spineless feathers.  I thought I would live on the edge and quilt one of my own quilts with an all-over feather.  Are my quilt designs considered modern?  Are feathers considered modern?  Humm.....??? Something to think about.  I'm still thinking about it.  ;o)

Are feathers modern? Think of it this way....what's old is new again! Isn't modern a collection of styles from the past that are popular now. Feathers are traditional but can be made modern if you choose to use them in non traditional ways like a meandering feather which really didn't come about until the longarm.
IMHO :)

I always love your input on this Kathy! You always say just the right thing and put everything in perspective! ;o)

Love this one. Ditto what Kathy said. Modern, yes. None of the geriatric set in the quilt guild would be using these. You must be in turbo mode!

Feathers can be SO traditional, but with a simple twist and a more open form they are also very modern. But, who cares - if they look good and compliment the quilt, they'r perfect. What's not to love about a flowing ripple of loveliness - come up with an new quilting design taking the feather format into a 'ripple flourish', especially as flourishes are all the rage at the moment

Ditto to what Kathy said! Are you marking your "spine"? I love meandering feathers, I'll have to try it without the spine!

Your feathers turned out great! I think they can be done in a modern way as well. A new more "modern" twist can be put on anything:)

I think your spineless feathers are wonderful, and quite frankly I've put meandering feathers on all sorts and they always look good, modern top or not!

I like your featheres. I do think the lack of a spine makes them seem more modern. I can't wait to see the whole quilt!
