Unexpected Bunk Beds

The last couple of days has been special for my two daughters.  They've been begging for bunk beds for a very long time and my husband got a bug in him to do just that and make them some bunk beds!

Yesterday was a beautiful day and perfect day to paint them white.  They even had time to dry.  We assembled them last night and the girls even got to sleep in them.

My husband made these from scratch and the girls love them!

I made these quilts about 7 yrs ago when the girls slept in bunk beds, before their brothers took them over.  I made these before owning my longarm and pieced and quilted big strips while assembling them together.  I was a little obsessed with kaleidoscope quilts at the time I made these.  It was fun to get them back out and they work perfect on their new beds!

I've finally loaded a customer quilt and will quilt it up tomorrow and of course show some pictures when I'm done.

What beautiful quilts and they look / work so well together on the new bunk beds - and to be honest it's lovely to see a girls room which is colourful and not pink, pink, pink

Adorable! The girls will be so happy. One of the best childhood memories--bunk beds! And the quilts are lovely. I still haven't finished my one attempt. It's in the retirement box!

Those quilts are gorgeous! And so are the bunk beds. My friend's husband just got done making their boys bunk beds. I don't think that I will get so lucky with my husband.

Very cool. It's awesome when hubbies get a burr under their saddle like that!

Love the bunk beds and love your kaleidoscope quilts! I am STILL obsessed with kaleido quilts -- I love the unexpected effect you get with the cuts and how you don't know how they will turn out till you sew the pieces together. I'll bet your girls are thrilled!

The bunk beds turned out great! But I keep looking at the quilts and thinking you picked a fabulous fabric for the kaleidoscope quilt. Each block turned out so different.
Look forward to seeing what you do on the quilt top you just loaded!!

Those daughters are happy on their new bunk bed of course! That is not simple. It is specially made by their father. Nice idea of using that quilts Jen. It enhances the appearance more.
