1 of 20 for Spring Market 2013

Remember when you were in High School and you just had to buy those brand name pants...because it was the cool thing to wear, or what about the white cowboy boots and of course there were those cool Polo shirts!  Well....that's what I felt like when I bought the FMF by Denise Schmidt!  It's true, I admit, because everyone else was buying it I just had to get some myself!

I have a design all ready in mind for this fabric and seeing how tomorrow is my Birthday, I may just play around a bit and do up a couple of blocks.  Good excuse anyway!

...so I've had an ultimate goal for myself ever since I went to Quilt Market last Spring in Salt Lake City and that is to go myself someday and have my own booth.

Well....lucky me, Quilt Market for next Spring is in Portland.  HELLO!  I live just North of Seattle!  This is a possibility and I'm scared to death...but If all go's as plan I will have 20 patterns to go with my ruler, hence...."1 of 20 for Spring Market".  I all ready have 8 patterns released, 4 tops done up and 8 more to go.

Question for you all, if you don't mind.  Do I release a pattern one at a time from here on out till next spring. (I have two I'm going to release for sure)  OR do I wait till next Spring to release and introduce them?

Would love to know what you think!

Thanks

~Jenny~

I think with regard to pattern release...I would do a little of both. Keep some coming to keep your audience engaged but have some new surprises for when quilt market comes to lure folks to your booth! So excited for you, what a great goal and so close to home!

I think you should keep releasing a few during the next year and then have 5 or so that no one knows about to release at market. How exciting for you. I know you will do well and with your awesome machine quilting skills you will do wonderful selling your patterns and rulers.

I had to get some too 'cause I missed out the first time!
I think you should release them one at a time and save maybe 4 to introduce at market. Congratulations, I think you'll do marvelous!

My thoughts, in order of reading your post: fabric peer pressure - guilty!; Quilt Market in Portland? That's just up the street from my parents, maybe I"ll plan a spring time visit!; and lastly - 12 MORE awesome patterns to go with your ruler?! I love the first few already and am so excited to see what you come up with - I'd totally drool all over your booth at market! :)

as far as the pattern release - I think keep a couple of your favorites to release at market! More incentive for people to come see your booth!

I like the idea of releasing a few and saving some surprises for Market.
Sounds like fun, glad I got a ruler before it comes out at market. I am looking forward to seeing what else you create with it.

I'd go for release some now & have a big statement with new quilt patterns at Market. Cheering you on!

Having been to market numerous times, it's the wow factor that grabs people. It's refreshing to see new things in the latest fabrics. Contact a fabric rep and see if you can get your hands on some fabric that is being released at spring market. I know it is possible. Release a few so people know who you are, but save some punch for market. Can't wait to see you there!

Release them in the market first, but tease us with pictures before hand.

I`m not feeling the love for FMF but have nearly bought it a dozen times for the reasons you listed! It does look really pretty in your photo so perhaps I will. Concerning the pattern, I agree with Kasia. I`m anxiously awaiting my ruler but the mail isn`t playing ball. Soon, I hope!

Happy Early Birthday! I say wait for Spring Market to release the full set of patterns (at least 5 or 6), but keep the interest up with another QAL and sneak peeks, but that's just me. I am hoping to attend quilt market in Portland next Spring so hopefully I will get to see you there!

Can't wait to see what you make with FMF :)

Congratulations Jenny. I totally agree with Kasia, keep the patterns coming, but save a few of your favorites for market. I love all of them, and am so anxious to see the new ones. And... congrats that your Urban Pods is carried at Pink Chalk Fabrics. You are so totally on your way. So happy for you.

Happy Birthday to you tomorrow! I think release a few and build up the excitement for a big release at Market! I don't know where you find so much time!

I agree with Kasia. You want to keep the momentum going for getting folks engaged, but you want to keep a few patterns for unveiling at market-that anticipation is good for us. Can't believe market is in Portland. I'll need to see put that on the ol' calendar!

My FMF fabric is on its way to me. Can't wait.

I like the suggestions so far....release a few patterns and keep a few special ones for market. Seems like a happy compromise!

Happy(almost)Birthday Jenny!

I agree with your other fans...keep them coming but save a few favs to release @ Market!

I am enjoying your patterns as they are released and so hope you continue doing one at a time. You could have a few "new" ones for quilt market. When are you going to write a book with patterns/quilts made with your ruler? :)

Happy Birthday Jenny!
Spring Market in Portland...how can you pass that up! You have gotten some great suggestions and saving a few patterns to release at market is a good idea. But definitely keep releasing new patterns on your website to keep the momentum going.

DO IT!!! You will have so much fun and gain valuable experience! I have done several trade shows for our personal business and though it was scary at first and always lots of work, it was well worth the interaction with customers and you will gain so much!!! You have a wonderful unique product!!! Let me know if you need any sewing help I'm so excited for you!

I agree with a couple now, and continue sporadically It's a great ruler, really good patterns and I'm sure you'll do great at the show. I'm saving for one as I'm on a "spending freeze", but I still follow your blog and am inspired by your patterns.

Happy Birthday! Seems like most of us would like to see you release some patterns and save some for market. I think that having your quilts on display will boost sales of your ruler and patterns. Good luck!!

happy birthday friend! i hope you had fun with your husband at dinner. did you go to the movie too? i would release a couple more now and have a couple more new ones to release at market. that way you are releasing fresh inventory constantly, which is what people like.

I agree with the comments - release some in the next while then save a few ones for Market. And it's in Portland you say? Hmmm...that's actually doable from here!
