Friday Inspiration - Katie's Quilt

My Friend Katie did up this Zig Zag quilt!

I believe this was Katie's first quilt.  She did an amazing job!  I love her fabric choice and her piecing was awesome!!  I did freehand straight lines to echo the zig zag and am very pleased with how it turned out!  It certainly gives it a modern feel.

...also a new discovery!  She brought over a sheet for the backing fabric that she got at IKEA and it quilted up beautifully!  Note to self...IKEA...cheap...backs...different colors...Oh Yea!!!

And here are my inspirations for the last couple of weeks!  Thanks for all the inspirations!!

...and

  1. Rippling Along, 2. antique berry basket, 3. blue canisters - new window, 4. The August Break 04, 5. Good Morning Sun Rug, 6. Kitchen shelf, 7. Bedroom, 8. Untitled, 9. IMG_3893

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

The freehand straight line quilting looks great! Pam will be so proud...she loves freehand. I don't have an IKEA but I am going to look on line to buy a back for my zigzag quilt.

There's a lot of nice eye candy here!

What an amazing first quilt! Such fabulous colour balance and execution! I'll bet she's hooked now since she's obviously mastered many techniques with this gorgeous zigzag. I love how the "diamond fabric" (which I recently used in my first solo quilt) got jumbled when pieced. It gives it character.

Lovely zig zag quilting!

Hi Jenny, Happy Birthday! What a nice surprise for you. Quick question about the zigzag quilting - do you use a ruler or are your zigzags freehand? I've heard that straight lines are difficult on a longarm. On Friday, I'm going to quilt my first quilt on a rental longarm - wish me luck!
thanks
