Tuesday Tips - Adding borders

Check out those beautiful borders on a very SQUARE
Urban Escape! :)
A simple tip for today.
Keeping the quilt top square!
When adding borders to smaller size quilts - measure center, vertically, cut both side borders according to this measurement - add side borders. Then measure center, horizontally, cut top and bottom borders according to this measurement - add top and bottom borders.
When adding borders to larger quilts, use the same process but measure in three places vertically, average measurements, cut and add side borders. Then measure horizontally, in 3 place, average measurements, then cut and add top and bottom borders.
This will help ensure a square quilt top. Your quilter will thank you! :)
More detailed information on this tip, and dealing with wonky quilt tops, can be found here.
