My good day just went so bad!! I was accomplishing so much and then this:
Happily did a whole row of a smaller than average meander on a customer quilt and then saw my BAD TENSION on the back after advancing the quilt!! So inconvenient! Yes...this means I take the quilt off the machine lay it out on the floor and start snipping the threads on the back so I can rip it all out!
After some investigation I found out my pre-wound bobbin was a not so good one. It was wound tighter than it should be and so my bottom tension was too tight! This never happens to me! And I'm mad at myself that I didn't catch this!
There are some inconveniences to being a longarm quilter and this is definitely one of them. I don't know one longarm quilter that hasn't had tension issues at one time or another.
This will take me well over an hour to pick out and my "I'm accomplishing so much today" turned out to be a grrrr.... day! I've got patterns to right up and I just lost well over an hour....and so there you have it. My good day gone bad!
I better get to snipping and picking...

Jenny,
It happens to the best of us. Smile and be thankful you caught it when you did.
Oh, Jenny, I feel your pain!!! I hate it when that happens!!! I'm impressed you only lost an hour...I would've spent that complaining! LOL!
Aww, Jenny, that really stinks! Nice that we have our blogs to vent our frustration from time to time! I hope the next session goes well!
I'm so glad to know it doesn't just happen to me ...you make me feel like I'm in good company. I know just what it feels like to be on a roll and then you advance the quilt and realize there is a problem. I usually lose many more hours...it's what keeps me from quilting for others...I think I would lose money at my ripping-out occurrence.
At least they are easy to frog when they are like that! Sorry! :(
Yes your not alone, I was ripping today too!! I'm using blue thread on top and cream on the backing so was checking the back much more than usual so caught the problem early. Still took me an hour to pick though.
I use a razor blade between the layers when it is a whole row that has to come out, it's faster!!
Oh no! I hate the eyelashes with a firey passion! Bad tension gets me so cranky!! Hope the rest of your day was better!
hope it comes out quick and all most painfree....xoxoxo
Spider legs! Yuk. I had to rip a quilt that took 5 evenings. My husband is now a pro at frogging. At any given minute one of us was busy ripping. Also, did you know your longarming page expired?
I've been there - it's horrible
I hope you were able to get things sorted quickly and everything ran smoothly afterwards
my heart sank...i know the pain
I really hate when this happens.
"Snipping and Picking" sounds like the title to a bluegrass tune. Someone should write a song, to ease the pain. So sorry about the aggravation.

I was quilting over the weekend and started my first pass over the quilt. I reached under just to feel the stitches and the tension was a mess. I quickly (thank goodness) deduced that the bobbin (pre-wound) was the culprit. Since the quilt is for my bed and not for someone else, I decided not to pick out the stitches. After it was bound I threw it in the washer and drier and it came out fine. The egyptian cotton thread on the top pulled everything together due to shrinkage. Thank goodness!!
