Unraveled - Irish Chain Quilts Blog Hop - .....E-Book Giveaway!

Irish Chain Quilts Blog Hop!

http://www.happyquiltingmelissa.com/

I can't tell you how happy I am for Melissa and her new book!  A couple of years ago at Quilt Market in Houston, while looking and admiring all the booths from the windows, waiting for Quilt Market to open up, we met Melissa and her Mother-n-law.  They were doing the same thing.  We hit it off right away and I remember thinking to myself how genuinely nice and happy Melissa is.  Since then we've become good friends and when I found out she was writing a book I was so excited for her and new it would be fantastic!

The quilt I chose to review in her book is Unraveled.

I have never pieced an Irish Chain quilt. I am fairly new to quilting and am liking the new modern look very much. The Irish Chain is going on my list of "to do" quilts.

I have not yet made an Irish Chain quilt, but I plan to soon. (Sooner if I win this book!)

I did Eleanor Burns' QIAD version called "Bits 'N Pieces" which was my first bed-sized quilt. When Martingale introduced Melissa's book, I really liked the design variations she came up with so definitely could see another Irish Chain quilt in my future!

Irish Chain is very addictive to make and the passion for sewing it gets right into your DNA apparently. I have a blue and white Irish Chain quilt sewen by my great grandmother a hundred years ago. And, I've made more than one, including a baby quilt that started out as something else but somehow turned into a giant Irish Chain block.
I had been sketching Irish Chains and thinking about Irish Chains and I guess my heart and my hands communicated with each other and left me out of the conversation. I am still surprised when I think of it.
The book sounds very inspiring and your scrappy version is very fresh looking.
