That's important for quilts that are being entered in a show. More frequently now, again depending on the thickness of the batting, I use 2" binding and trim at the 1/4" - that works very well. Obviously I don't trim a quilt before applying the binding. I like the tip of sewing off at the corner on a 45 degree slant - that makes it so much easier. If hand stitching it doesn't matter. It just depends on how wide you want you're binding to be on the front. But, if sewing machine binding you'll want the same width on front as in the back. Basically just fold it in half around the edge of quilt so you can catch the edge of the binding as you're stitching. Hope that makes sense.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10938036082713836623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117112529482253610.post-81306398634549910362014-11-04T12:34:00.128-08:002014-11-04T12:34:00.128-08:00One thing I've wondered... if you use a larger...One thing I've wondered... if you use a larger binding, do you sew more than a 1/4 inch from the edge of the quilt when you sew it to the front?Becky (My Fabric Obsession)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09264800140397196483noreply@blogger.com
