Steam is our friend!
If you are participating in the Mod Olives QAL, I wanted to mention how much steam can be our friend! After sewing your curves, don't hesitate to steam iron your blocks nice and flat before your square your blocks up.
These are Helen's blocks.
Hope your having a good time sewing up your Mod Olive blocks!
We are looking forward to seeing them!

I'm a huge steamer when it comes to my quilt blocks. good to know it is good for curves. Love the blue in those blocks.
Jenny....question. when you are cutting the curves do you stay to
one side or other of the slot?
or does it matter?
Well I have not cut into my fabric yet but I hope I can do this quilt without steam. I broke two irons last year (or wore them out..haha) and replaced them with a vintage dry iron. It is old and the cord is covered in that striped cotton...yikes. I know I need a new iron but there is so much pretty fabric out there to buy instead. I will let you know how the non steam version works when I get that far. Wish me luck.
Could you show us the back side of the block, so we have a suggestion for pressing the direction of the seams? Thanks,
I am struggling with achieving a 7 x 5 block, mine tend to be nearer to a 6 x 4 with puckering on the seams . I have sewn and unpicked and sewn again before pressing and I am still failing. Should I be using a 1/4 inch seam, your allowances on your tutorial appears to be larger?
Please help, I must be doing something fundamentally wrong as your blocks all look fab.
Many thanks
Karen
