Fun mail today!

Good stuff came in the mail today!

Pattern covers!  I've been spending too much money on my patterns and finally found a company south of me that has great pricing and they print up beautifully!  Oh...and UPC codes on our patterns now!

My copy of Quilters Companion magazine along with my Metro Waves quilt also came in the mail.

I love how they displayed the quilt!

...and I have to admit, it's a little strange reading about myself in a magazine!

It's a really great edition and I can't wait to have more time to sit down and read it through.  If you have the opportunity to pick this magazine up, I suggest you definitely do, you won't be disappointed!  It's filled with some amazing quilts designed by some very talented quilters!

I was happy and surprised to find out that Cynthia@ahhhquilting is featured in the magazine along with some of her beautiful quilts and one Quick Curve Ruler one too, designed by her.

...and on a different note, I deleted my last post on borders.  I felt it was maybe a bit overwhelming for some and I never want to post anything that might make me come across as an expert.  I just simply like to share ideas and tips I've found that help me in the quilting process.  My idea or ideas are just one of many out there.  If you have any questions regarding borders or my method of fixing them you're welcome to personally e-mail me and I would love to chat about it!

  8. Congrats on the magazine! Hope I am able to find a copy. You handle borders the exact same way I handle them if the customer doesn't want to fix them, or pay me to fix them. I would have left the post up, I thought you explained it very well.

Shame you took down the post, as I thought it was well thought out & you didn't come across as an expert, but someone that has found a way to overcome a common problem that was willing to share.

  10. Hello,

I bought a copy yesterday as I live in Perth Western Australia, I also bought the Quick Curve Ruler from your website months ago, so I was so happy to get the pattern in the Magazine as I can now make this pattern as well as the others I have got. The article was really well written too and I can't believe you look so good for having 6 kids, amazing super Mum. Congratulations.

  15. Major congrats on the magazine article! Much deserved! =)

I'm really sad to see you deleted the borders post! I never came around to commenting on it as I was going to go back to it but it was an excellent post! I don't understand why anyone would take it the wrong way, that's one of the main reasons I read blogs, there's so much knowledge and many valuable tips and tricks from talented people like you who are willing to share their knowledge and experience for free, giving the rest of us sooo much by doing so! Please don't let any Negative Nancys get you down but keep sharing your knowledge with us, we greatly appreciate it! <3

If one had to be an expert to share tips or your way of doing stuff, or even post tutorials I'd never had written a blog post in my life ^^

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season, keep up your amazing work!

  17. Your post on the topic of borders was very clear and concise. The photos were excellent, also. I am sorry you felt you needed to delete it as, I am sure, would have been a great resource for those who have not yet encountered such situations (but absolutely will....it's inevitable!!!) Your solutions are the ones I have used and work exceedingly well and, truly, are almost invisible!! Congrats on the publication!!!!!

  20. Your Metro Waves quilt is beautiful and the article really did present it in a fresh and appealing way. Congrats on your feature.
I absolutely loved your article on borders and am disappointed that you took it down. I had saved the link for a later reference as I thought it provided valuable information for those of us long-armers just getting started. I cannot imagine anyone being offended by you offering your insights and sharing your experiences. Such a shame you felt you had to take it down.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and again..Congrats on your success.

  25. I adore this Metro Waves Quilt! I have to make it! Would you happen to know where the magazine could be purchased, online? I've googled it and can't seem to locate it anywhere. My local quilt shops don't seem to have it either. :( OR...perhaps you will make the pattern available for purchase online? Thanks so very much!

  26. Hi Jenny
What a shame I missed the post on borders.
I have just bought my copy of the magazine, your quilt looks great.
For those of you not in Australia,
Quilters Companion is one of 4 Australian quilting magazines you can subscribe or order back issues here www.universalshop.com.au
The modern quilting issue is a special edition with a DVD, gotta love a freebie!
    Well done Jenny

  28. Man, I really liked to see how you fixed those borders! Maybe you need to put it on your blog somewhere else, so that the rest of us LAers can benefit from your knowledge! Screw what other people think...this is YOUR blog where you can put whatever you want on it. If they don;t like it, they can stop reading it! You will never make everyone happy, so stick with being yourself, and posting what you have personal experience doing, and doing well! I learned a long time ago, that you only make yourself miserable by trying to cater to other's needs. If you aren't an "expert" in the quilting field, then really, who is? Love your quilting, patterns, and ruler! Rock on!

  29. Love the quilt that is featured in the magazine!
I'm so sorry to hear you did delete the last post. I did read it before you did, and I wish it was there when I get this problem one day.
Please don't let a few negative comments get to you, we are so many more who like your tips. I've learned so much from you, and I am so thankful for the time you use sharing the how to's with us! We do things different, and might think what we do is the "right way". But there is several roads to Rome, like we say in Norway. The way you do things may get the same or almost the same result as an other way, but you do the stuff your way and those of us who want to learn from you. You are such a talented lady, and I know there are so many that agree with me. You should belive in yourself too, we do!
    Merry Christmas dear Jenny :-)
