Today, I have the privilege to share with you a new quilt book by Andie and Kelly called "Modern designs for CLASSIC QUILTS"!
Love...love....love...this book! Everything about it, from content....to photography....to techniques....to picture tutorials...and of course the fantastic quilts and quilt patterns!!
I've known Andie through blogging before her book writing journey. Her blog was one of the first I followed and I liked it because she is a very real in her writing. Well.... apparently Andie likes my longarm quilting skills and asked if I would quilt a couple of quilts for a "project" she was working on....a project that had to do with a future book! No pressure for me, none what so ever! Ha! ;o)
This spider web quilt is called "Effie's Web".
..and it's a beauty! I loved quilting it up!
This New York Beauty quilt is called "Midtown Girl".
I really love how this one turned out!
These are only a couple of many awesome quilts in Andie and Kelly's book and to celebrate with them I'm having a book GIVEAWAY!!
Anyone is welcome to enter the giveaway and staying on the theme of Classic Quilts....Answer this question for the Giveaway: What "Curved" classic quilt or block would you like to see done Modern and easier the Quick Curve Ruler way?
Have fun and good luck!
The Giveaway will end tomorrow night.

ReplyDeleteI love the classic curved "Winding Ways" block. It usually involves templates so if there was a way to make it with your ruler I would be great!
ReplyDeleteCan we try Dresden Plate? I love how you think outside the box.
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilting on those quilts.
ReplyDeleteDouble wedding ring - it's time to make one!
drunkard's path needs a modern update!
ReplyDeleteoh... that's interesting question ... ) How about the Drunkard's Path?

ReplyDeleteThe book looks great - thanks for the giveaway chance!
I've would like to see an oak leaf and reel made with you templates--old-fashioned pattern that could be very interesting with modern fabrics and techniques. Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you quilted that New York Beauty quilt!
All suggested sound great! The book looks great too
ReplyDeleteDouble Wedding Ring is my first choice, but I know you already have that one in the works. Second choice is a pieced Orange Peel block. I love this block but I will never make an entire quilt with it since the traditional method requires applique.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Pickledish too. How about a Lemoyne star?
ReplyDeleteHow about Chinese Lanterns? I just bought your ruler and 2 patterns at a craft fair yesterday and am looking forward to learning a new technique!

ReplyDeleteI was thinking pickle dish, too! Thanks for the chance....this book looks great! And I LOVE the two quilts you showed! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWinding Ways, always been a fave of mine...
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the double wedding ring pattern. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is working on a double wedding ring quilt now and hand-quilting it. So I'd pick to do that one with a modern twist.
ReplyDeleteStorm at Sea is on my to do list and I think the curved nature of the quilt pattern might lend nicely to the QCR.
ReplyDeletePi kledish? Drunkard's path? I know others have already suggested these, bit they are what I'd like to see too! Thanks for the chance to win this wishlist book!
ReplyDeleteDWR! Beautiful quilting!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a curve around a log cabin block. A circular home of the future?!
ReplyDeleteDrunkards Path would be the one I'd like to see made modern.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting! I've been dying to try a Pickledish quilt but oh, the terror of those pieces :-) Maybe you can make it modern and simpler - am I asking too much?

ReplyDeleteLove Midtown Girl. Very, very nice! How about updating the Orange Peel block?
ReplyDeleteWow. You're quilting is amazing on that quilt. And the quilts shown in your post are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's possible but, I'd love to see a Dresden done.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to say the double wedding ring quilt. Your quilting is just beautiful.

Yikes! That question is a toughie cuz I haven't been quilting all that long. Any curvey quilt would be great for me. The only curvey quilts I can think of right now are Drunkard's Path and New York Beauty...
ReplyDeleteI think a Pineapple Block would be SO fun!
ReplyDeleteBear's Paw. I thing that would look fantastic with the Quick Curve Ruler
ReplyDeleteI think either the Cathedral Windows, Eyelash block or Pineapple Block would be great to try using your ruler. Thanks for the chance of the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI think Pam's idea of a Spiderweb would be perfect. I also wonder if you could do something New York Beauty-ish?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of the details in how you quilted the Midtown Girl quilt. Just perfect.
The curved design I want to try is Winding Ways--not sure when I will be ready to try that one. Your quilting on the book projects is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA modern Dresden would be fun. Thanks for the sweet giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to do an Orange Peel quilt for some time now. The quilting for the book is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI think storm at sea has a lot of possibilities with the ruler. Not stictly a curved block, but was that look. Also winding ways!
ReplyDeleteDrunkard's Path was my very first quilt back in 1976. Who knew curves weren't for beginners! I would love to make it over with a simpler method than tracing around cardboard 1,000 times!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the winding way quilt pattern?
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a Dresden block done up in this easier manner!
ReplyDeleteI've been loving the star quilts I've seen, especially the wonky ones. How about some curved up stars? Thanks for the chance to win the book!
ReplyDeleteI think double wedding ring would be so neat! What incredible quilting you did on these quilts. Just absolutely amazing! Congratulations, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Jenny! Thanks for the chance. How about an orange peel block, or drunkard's path, maybe double wedding ring. Can you see my problem? I'm going to behave and go with wedding ring, but trust me, it's NOT an easy choice!
ReplyDeleteMary
I'm with the others that would LOVE to see a DWR pattern using your Curve tool! I've had fabric to make my daughter and SIL one for their wedding for 4 years now. Maybe I could actually get one done by their 5th anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThe Monkey Wrench would look marvelous curved!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a modern basket block that's really different. I am making a quilt for a friend and have chosen to use traditional and contrast with modern blocks but would love more ideas. Thanks for the opportunity to win a great book.
ReplyDeleteAh, you know that I've already suggested Storm at Sea - but how about a twist on a NYB segment?
ReplyDeleteThe NYB is so great, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the double wedding ring as a pattern and the traditional block I love most is 54-40 or fight, how about that on in a curved way?
Saskia
I've been playing with my ruler for a while now, and had just worked out the Double Wedding Ring block with it, before you posted that you were doing it.

ReplyDeleteThank you for a chance to win this great book!
Love the Spider web quilt but if you thoughtabout the DWR or the storm at sea would be great. Love the quilting

ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win the book described above. I'd be thrilled with any of the previously mentioned classic quilt patterns. On my 'to-do' list is a DWR quilt so I'm most intrigued with your efforts in that direction. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Wedding ring or Dresdan Plate.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the Double Wedding Ring. I'm so intrigued by the pattern, but I can't muster the courage to start a DWR quilt.
ReplyDeleteJenny, your quilting on that New York Beauty is out of this world! I'm not entering the giveaway--I already have the book. I just wanted you to know that I think your quilting is amazing. Great work!
ReplyDeleteYou got me looking in the book by Maggie Malone, "5500 Quilt Block Designs" with your question. Block no. 3498 Ferris Wheel, Block no. 3535 Grist Mill and block 3550 Carolina Favorite and 3599 Pointed Ovals are just a few I'd love to try. I wonder too, if there's a way to interpret Snails Trail with your ruler.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilts as always. I don't know a ton of traditional stars. There is a set for each state and it would be interesting to see if those could be curved-up.
ReplyDeleteDrooling over this book. How about the winding ways block.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...maybe an orange peel quilt?
ReplyDeleteYour ruler is on my wish list--can't wait to dive in.
I am thinking Drunkard's Path! Thank you for this great giveaway! The book looks most interesting.

ReplyDeleteOh, your quilting is just breath-taking. When I grow up I want to quilt just like you, lol! I see people mentioning the Winding Ways block. I would agree with that one.
ReplyDeleteOh! I have to have this book! I would like to see the contrary wife done with the ruler,, wonder how that would work?
ReplyDeletePlease pick me!

ReplyDeleteIncreíble regalo.Cariños.
The quilting on the spider web quilt and the New York beauty was wonderful, love them!
ReplyDeleteThese quilts are stunning! Thanks for the opportunity to win this book.
ReplyDeleteI'm very new to quilting, but I think I have to echo those who have piped up in favor of the wedding ring quilt. Even before I was interested in quilting, I've wanted to make one (and I love the new "single girl" version as well).
I want to do so many curved quilt blocks - double wedding ring, drunkard's path, dresden plate, and pickle dish! They're all gorgeous, but tough to execute.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed out. I would love this book. Guess I'll have to go buy it. haha! I LOVE the quilting you did. No surprise they loved your quilting enough to have you quilt for them!
ReplyDeleteEasy peasy......PICKLEDISH!!! I'd love to see what you would come up with using the QCR. Thanks for the opportunity to win this book.
