This is it...my last customer quilt!

Oh this is so hard for me.  Here it is....my last customer quilt.

Becky's Urban Nine Patch was a gem to quilt up!  I love everything about this quilt....the design...the colors...the layout.

Like I said, this is my last customer quilt.  I've got so many emotions going through me right now.

Check out the feathers for this quilt!  They worked perfectly and even if you may not be into feathers....you can't tell me they don't look fantastic on this quilt!

I went back and forth as to what design to do for the open white area in Becky's quilt and after a good night sleep, settled on my feather/swirl all over design.  I didn't feel it needed more that that because the scalloped border is fantastic enough!!

This quilt took me about 14 hours to quilt up.  A lot of stitching in the ditch but very worth it!

I love how the little white square looks like an art deco tile.

I may just ask Becky for this one back for Market someday.  It's so beautiful!  Becky's piecing was phenomenal!

...and just in case you were wondering, my quilting posts will not end here.  I've got plenty of my own creations to quilt up!

My Professional Lonarm Quilting Business has been an amazing experience, some good and some not so good.  I've had lot's and lot's of experiences good and bad that have happened along the way.  I've met some amazing quilters and have developed priceless friendships.  They've taught me so much and I'm so grateful for them.  I love how longarm quilting has pushed me to be creative beyond anything I could have ever imagined.  I love what's to come and have been truly blessed with my career path.  I hope that I can in some way or another use my longarm quilting skills to teach and inspire others somehow, someday and probably at another time.

Okay...so I guess this is it!

Look out for "Curves Ahead"!!

 ~Jenny~

  4. Your quilting is beautiful! Some of the best I've seen in a long time. I quit doing longarm quilting for clients about 12 years ago and just quilt for myself now. It took me a year to finish up my waiting list. It was the right decision for me and I'm sure it will be for you too. The daily grind of standing at a machine really does a number on the body. I'm still paying for my years of steady quilting. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing your quilts. Pace yourself though! ;)

  18. Another amazing quilt that your quilting has turned into an extraordinary example of what an artist can do when allowed free reign to produce their vision. I admit that I am being selfish and will miss seeing your artistry. I could always count on seeing a beautiful quilt brought to life by your creativity but glad to know you are following your heart toward your dreams.

  27. I have always loved what you wind up doing. I hope to someday have a long arm, but I will NOT use it for a business, to many picky people who are not very nice! I can't wait to see what you do next!

  28. It is just stunning!!! What an amazing journey. And I can't wait to hear more about Curves Ahead!!

  29. Wow... I did not see that coming, not from someone as talented as you. Of course this last customer quilt is a stunner. Your choices were spot-on, and the finished quilt is so much more because of what you added to it.

It makes me sad to hear that you're done with your longarm business, though. Reading between the lines, perhaps imagining what isn't there -- but my heart tells me that there may have been some unpleasant experiences with unreasonable or ungrateful customers, those who undervalued you or made you doubt your worth, who sucked the joy out of the creative process for you. Anyone who has attempted to FMQ a large quilt himself or herself, either on a domestic or longarm machine, can appreciate the care, skill, and artistry that went into each and every customer's quilt.

I hope that this door is closing for you because something even better is around the next bend. Teaching others could be very rewarding, both for you AND your students, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you quilt for yourself now that you aren't tied up with quilting for others. In a very real way, you give up your own hobby when you start sewing for others, and you deserve to have yours back again.

    Hugs, and don't be a stranger! :-)
