Baby "Metro Hoops"

I made this for a very special friend.  She's having a baby boy soon.

I used the pattern "Metro Hoops".  It's an easy pattern that went together really fast!  I of course made it smaller than the actual pattern.

I used a favorite combination of mine for baby quilts.  Cotton's for the quilt top, wool for the batting and minki for the back.

I kept the quilting pretty simple.  I wanted the quilt to be a soft and snugly one.

  6. Like everyone else is saying that chevron print is minki, LOVE IT! and your quilting is amazing, I hope the mother will be able to let her son near it, I know I wouldn't be able too.

  7. I was wondering if you would come up with mini QCR? Or can we use the current QCR for this quilt?

  9. I love how you quilted spirals in those large circles. I wanted to do that on one of my own quilts recently, but I couldn't manage to get the spirals nice and even. Mine were neither nice NOR even -- I had to abandan that plan altogether! :-) People like you who are highly skilled and talented make it look too easy!

Also, so intriqued by your combo of cotton top, wool batt and Minky backing. I didn't know you could quilt so close together with Minky, but I really love the textured pile that results. Also, wool batting in a baby blanket? Doesn't that make for more complicated care instructions? Which brand of wool batting are you using with this project?

  10. Beautiful quilt! And chevron minki? wow never saw it in that pattern. I'm hoping your friend will actually let the baby use it. Most of my friends report that a lovely quilt like that usually gets hung in the nursery instead of being used.

  20. I love the look and feel of minky (especially for a baby quilt like you said), but have heard it is very difficult to work with. Do you have to cut binding extra wide to fit around all of those thick layers?
