Input on Medallion block

I always like to get input from you all and before anyone gets to far along on their Medallion blocks I wanted to get your input on some options for the centers of the outside Medallions.

In the original quilt I put in diamonds in the centers of all the Medallions...it felt like to much...but tonight a thought came to me to put in diamonds in the outside medallions...and even make them scrappy by combining the different fabrics I'm using for all 4 corners of the diamond...fun?  What do you think?  Yes....and if so, how big would you like the diamond...The sample above is the original size.

We would love your input on this...

THANKS

  1. I think those center diamonds are a beautiful touch. The "original" size seems right to me.

  7. Great idea. I love the original size too. I would go with either solid or scrappy diamonds.

  10. I love the addition of the diamond. I felt like it needed something and that's a great touch. I probably would do scrappy as it looks so elegant the way you show in the picture.

  11. I really like the center. The diamond adds interest and makes it a block and not just the "blank space" around the main block. I like the size.

  12. I played with a light gray one in mine. I'll have to post a picture. What size do you cut the squares to sew on the corners?

  14. I'm thinking of offsetting mine, using half a medallion at the top and or bottom. I need to make more blocks first, but I like the diamond too.

I have so much going on right now, but when I finish a bunch of my WIPs I'm going to try one of your curve patterns!! New to quilting, which do you recommend?

  17. Oh, shoot, I was just thinking about what kind of quilting I wanted to do in that lovely negative space between the medallions - now I'm not sure

  18. I love the diamonds and the size! They really add to the quilt. But I don't know if a scrappy diamond would look as good as good as the solid one you have there.

  24. Still new to blogging so I missed this thread. I do love the added diamond. I think the scrappy version adds jazz to the top, and the solid more conservative. This makes it quite versatile depending on what you're trying to achieve.
