Fabric Requirements

Curved Blocks:
(4) 5 1/2" x 10" rectangle (white fabric)
(4) 3" x 10" rectangle (orange print)

Half Square Triangle Blocks:
(2) 5" squares (blue print)
(2) 5" squares (orange print)
(4) 2" squares (white fabric)
(4) 2" squares (blue print)

Corner blocks:
(4) 4 1/2" squares (white fabric)

Stack the 5 1/2" x 10" rectangles.  Place QCR on top of stack centering in between the dark reference lines on top and bottom and the left side of stack is under the 3 1/4" mark on ruler.  Make your cut in the curve cut out.

 Discard fabric on left.

Stack the 3" x 10" rectangles.  Place QCR on top of stack centering in between the dark reference lines on top and bottom and the left side of stack is under the 4" mark on ruler.  Make your cut in the curve cut out.

 Discard fabric on right.

Piece the two curves together.  Do this for all to make 4 blocks.
Using the QCR, square up blocks to a 9" x 4 1/2" rectangle, centering ruler 1/8" past curve seam on top and bottom.  Sample in yellow squares above.  Square up top and right side, flip block and square up the other two sides.

 Sample of block squared up.

Cut block in half to make (2) 4 1/2" squares.  Do this for each block.

For half square triangles:  Take the (2) 5" squares (orange print) and place face down on top of the (2) 5" squares (blue print).  Draw a mark from one corner to the other.

Stitch a 1/4" seam on each side of the line.
Cut in half and press open to make your 4 half square triangles.  If needed, square each one to a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"" square (depending on your 1/4 seam length).

Take the 2" squares and draw a diagonal line on each one.

Place each square on corners of your hst's.  Stitch just to the right (towards hst corners) of each line.

Cut off corners leaving a 1/4 seam.  Press open.

Layout block as shown above.  Assemble into rows then sew rows together to form block.

 You will end up with a 16 1/2" x 16 1/2" star block.

I love this block, and yours looks so amazing! Did you know that the step about joining the curves and squaring up, is missing from the PDF? Not a big deal, as you have it in your post, but thought you might want to know. :-)

I immediately saw this in a 5 star baby quilt. Then... "wouldn't this make a great center for a medallion quilt!" Gotta do it.

Gorgeous design! I heard about your curve-along and keep meaning to join but there are projects I have to finish up first!
